Franeen McDonald has a Master's Degree in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). She also has a degree in Psychology and Social Work with Sociology and Criminology, a Certificate in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy ™ and Hypnosis,  a Certificate in Family and Divorce Mediation, a Certificate in Child- and Play Therapy, and is qualified in Brainspotting. She did various post graduate courses in Child and Family Counselling and engages in Continued Professional Development. 

As a accredited member of the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP), she adheres to their code of ethics and practice. She has an advanced CRB check and trained to work with child protection issues.

She has experience in counselling children and families since 1986 and has worked in a variety of medical, voluntary and local authority sectors. She has set up her Private Practice, AchievingGoals…Now!, in 2005. Prior to this she had her own very successful private practice as a Coach and Psychotherapist in South Africa. She currently consults many private clients for psychotherapy and coaching at her office in Cheltenham, as well as various schools in Gloucestershire.

Franeen is also employed as an External Counsellor for Occupational Health at Gloucestershire's County Council and Nuffield Health.
